Linking to other blogs
Do people generate hits by linking to other people's blogs? I.e., the almost required links on the right of every blog?

I don't actually link to other blogs as of yet. I do however link to projects or cultural entities I find to be cool. If a topic suggests it, I'll link to a friend's blog from within a post.
I don't think you really generate "HITS" on your site simply by linking to other people's sites. Unless, of course, the people you are linking to really comb through their logs. And then that would only generate more hits if your site were interesting. However, an interesting site is more than links to other's sites.
On my blog, I ocassionally post only a link if I'm tight on time. However, I usually comment on why it is interesting, why I think others may like it, my views, etc....
