I tried joining the Bad Astronomy Bulletin Board, although it's now called the Bad Astronomy / Universe Today.

For about two hours, I could post, and did so, politely, and respectfully.

Then, I was told I was banned because I "sockpuppets were not allowed."

I still haven't figured out what a "sockpuppet" is, much less why I was banned because of it.

Could I have some spyware on my machine that I'm not aware?

Criminey's! This is infuriating! I first came across the website yesterday, and thought it a very nice online community to join.

It's apparently just to bad they're so exclusionary.

Why are people like that? What makes them think they're better than everyone else?

And I'm an aerospace engineer!

Sorry I'm not an "astronomer," or an "astrophysist."

Pathetic, and I'm truly sorry there are such great bulletin boards that are out there that exclude others for such stupid reasons as "sockpuppetry."

Whatever the heck that is (and how it could possibly related to the Internet!), they can keep their sockpuppets!

I'm sure there are other websites out there which meet the same need that aren't so ridiculously stingy/stupid with respect to their admission policies.
